Recently, I posted about my attempts to organize (read: simplify) this site. It is still in a transition period, but hopefully stabilizing soon. That is, after one more upheaval.
In a further attempt at organization, I’m combing two of my blogs: Cheap Ass Fiction and Cheap Ass Fiction Fiction Basically, I’m bringing the fiction back.
I used to have a section of short stories and really short stories here. I sent them off to their own blog with the idea that different types of people would be reading them than were reading my regular posts. And I was right, the people who visit Cheap Ass Fiction Fiction where my fiction lives are different people from the ones who visit Cheap Ass Fiction. They are often the people I do prompts with, people whose prompts I read, people who may very well not have any interest whatsoever in my rants on web fiction.
But its a pain in the ass to have to go between the two. So I”ll be reposting some stories from there back here.
Don’t worry, this is never going to be a Me-Me-Me site! It was never supposed to be. My primary focus is still reviewing, commenting on, and promoting the web fiction community. I’ll only be putting up stories once in a while. Everyone OK with that?
Just FYI . So you can jump ship if you want to.

I don’t do much updating of my website or blogs since it’s hard to determine what motivates readers to visit. Sometimes I get more hits when I’m absent for a while. So much for my personality, but I don’t really care that much. I’ve always been a take-it-or-leave-it type of writer, and I feel better for it. And that’s what counts. Sounds like you’re getting there also.
R.D….

Yeah I’m definitely a take-it-or-leave-it type too. I’m mostly trying to organize my blogs because it’s easier for me. I basically write what I like, which is why it’s kind of all over the place–my interests are all over the place. I mean, I love getting traffic and comments and of course I love when people read my stories, but that’s not my motivation. My motivation is writing and I’ll write what I want to write, regardless.

You might have a problem with the search engines and 404 errors if you are going to do double posts with the date stamp and url.
You should ask in the forum what to do first of all.
I, like yourself, have the take it or leave outlook, i write what i want to about anything, if you don’t like it read the next post .

Thanks for the warning. I’ll head over to the forum and see if anyone has any advice.

So I headed over to the forums, did a search, and found a post where you advised someone else on deleting posts from their blog and the horror of 404 errors.
It occurred to me that I should have been more specific, though I don’t know if it matters. I’m actually not deleting anything from the other blog. In fact I’m keeping that around for some of the things I don’t want to clutter up this site with, such as my random attempts at serials and more personal red dress prompts. So there won’t be any disappearing posts over there, it’s just that my main focus–fiction and non-fic, now–will be over here.
Do you think I’ll still have a problem?

Not with the other blog, but if you just copy and paste the post with the title and contents it will/might confuse the search engines and visitors, example:- if someone types “sometimes i wear a dress” into yahoo where will the engine go , to which site, would it go at all or make a 404 error.
click timethiefs avatar and go to her site and explain, she will tell you what to do, i think you will have to make a new title and change the date stamp for a start.
lets know what she says
